The ISBER Mentoring Program is designed to connect individuals seeking guidance with experienced volunteer mentors in the biobanking community who can share their first-hand, practical biobanking knowledge. Engagement is offered at no cost to the participants and is intended to provide a limited,
short-term opportunity to learn from experts in a variety of topics related to biobanking and biorepository management. In addition to an opportunity to contribute to improving biobanking practices, this program will help familiarize mentees with the range of tools provided by ISBER, and with other resources available to biobankers.
Individuals within the ISBER membership interested in serving as mentors will be matched with registered mentees based on the questions asked by the mentees and by area of expertise needed, general biobanking sector, institutional experience, and will try to match mentors and mentees by
geographical location and language. The mentor will be expected to interact directly with the mentee either in one time discussion or series of discussions based on the question asked, and will direct mentees to information about available biobanking resources (ISBER tools, publications, other
resources on the web, webinars, etc.).
Individuals interested in enrolling as volunteer mentors should fill out all the information requested as accurately as possible to allow for matching with a mentee. Mentors are requested to commit to one year of serving (renewable as needed).
