It’s never been easier to keep your biobank practices current. Join over 1000 learners in over 30 countries who have taken the ‘Essentials of Biobanking’.

ISBER is pleased to partner with the Canadian Tissue Repository Network (CTRNet) to deliver the ‘Essentials of Biobanking’ course.

The ‘Essentials of Biobanking’ is available to ISBER members and non-members alike and is updated to ISBER Best Practices 4.0. The entire course of nine modules is designed to be applicable to those handling research biospecimens such as biobank technicians, consent coordinators, project managers, and other staff.

Figure 1 outlines the module topics. Recent updates have also incorporated references to the new ISO 20387:2018 standard, so this online-course is highly beneficial for those undergoing ISO or CTRNet Biobank Certification or CAP Biobank Accreditation. Further, new content has been added to the course to include content on business planning, business continuity and legacy planning for biobanking.

Content has been adapted with ancillary material to be applicable to different country-specific issues (e.g., in the areas of ethics, laws, regulations, etc.) including those in the United States, Australia, and Germany.

While focused on human biobanking, this education module is applicable to those in the non-human biobanking sector as well.
This course is offered in English and in French. Learners can access the education at any time at their own pace.

Cost:
• $195 USD for ISBER members
• $395 USD for non-ISBER members
• $49 USD for individuals from LMICs
• Free for members of IARC Biobank and Cohort Building Network (BCNet)

Access:
The ‘Essentials of Biobanking’ can be accessed on the ISBER website and through the CTRNet Biobank Resource Center (www.biobanking.org) as part of the biobank certification program.
