The Standards Advisory Committee serves as an advisory group that provides biobanking expertise on behalf of ISBER to establish consistent biobanking standards.

Committee Achievements:

Conducted a survey amongst biobankers which showed that the large majority of respondants would be willing to follow ISBER standards and a standards-based accreditation program for specimen collection, processing, storing and distribution and will help shape future ISBER policy regarding an accreditation program

Committee Goals:

Develop the fourth edition of the Best Practices to be disseminated globally, with a goal for release in December 2017
Develop and market a biobanking exam with Best Practices
