Greetings from the Organizers

Dear Colleages,
The establishment and development of Biobanks have provided higher quality research bioresource for life science and human health. The essence of biobank is the quality of each specimen and the information it links to. Numerous numbers of the same or similar biospecimens are being collected everyday all over the world. The question we ask ourselves is whether these similar samples possess the equal quality among them. Having a good grip of the protocols speaks of the good quality of the sample it produces.

In this Biobank National Medical Continued Education program (Pave the Way to Success: Quality Samples and Data Promise Quality Research),we have not only invited the world reknown top biobank managers, but also the cryo preservation specialties, the joint directors of the Chinese National Compound Liabrary and The National Center for Drug Screening, the top scientist of monadelphous anti-cancer treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine DANTI, and important PDX model. How to run and manage it as a “BANK” is what every Biobank staff encounters and contemplates on daily basis. How the work of Biobank embody its scientific value, improve its quality, stir up the staff’ s passion and provide best quality service for the R&D, as well as how to maximize the utilization of the limited resource is what each and every bank are striving to do. The purpose of collecting sample is for its use. After Biobank have collected a bulk of samples, it becomes an important link in how to share and exchange them. Hospital is where the sample is generated. While there are many stakeholders in this process, the use of the samples and cost recovery have became the focus.

Let’s listen to the analysis of our invited speakers.

It is a long term project to train Biobank staff. Knowledge is first generated and then updated. When our
updated knowledge produce new technology and new process, that is how this professional field is

Let’ s gather here in Shanghai, learn from each other, support each other and encourage each other for a
better future.
