ISBER Preanalytical External Quality Assessment Survey
Share |

The Prenanalytical EQA Survey is FREE to all biorepositories.

This is a Preanalytical External Quality Assessment scheme for the pre-analytical phase in biorepositories. It is based on collection of information about pre-analytical biorepository procedures (Biochemia Medica 2014;24:114-122). It has been developed by the ISBER Biospecimen Science Working Group, and approved by the ISBER Education and Training Committee. The scheme is applicable to all biorepositories, both clinical and environmental.

Pre-analytical” in the scope of this survey refers to all in vitro variables affecting the quality of biospecimens. The most important of these pre-analytical factors are defined in the SPREC (Standard PREanalytical Code) (Cancer, Epidemiol Biomarkers Prevention 2010;19:1004-101, and Biopreservation Biobanking 2012;10:366-374).

This scheme includes questions relative to Quality Assurance (Questions 2 to 5, 11 to 17, 25, 29, 30) and Quality Control (Questions 6 to 10, 18 to 24 and 26 to 28).

At the end of this survey, you will receive a personalized report, showing results and statistics obtained by all biorepositories who have participated in this scheme. The benefit of participating in this scheme is to be able to compare your organization's pre-analytical practices to those of all other biorepositories and benchmark.

READ BEFORE TAKING THE SURVEY:

In order to maintain meaningful global statistics, it is highly recommended that you do not take the pre-analytical EQA survey more frequently than twice per year.

It is recommended that your answers correspond to your actual practices already implemented, not to the practices you think you should/will implement one day.

Important: Make sure to save the results link on the Results Page.  If you do not save this link, you will not be able to access the survey results after you leave the page.  You can use this link to see updated comparison results - for example, you can check the link a month after you originally took the survey to see new global statistics.
